Maryland Hispanic All-Star Senior ($1000)
Academic Scholarship
Due Date: July 31, 2021

This scholarship was established by the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for a senior graduating from a Maryland High School that has been accepted to an accredited two-year college, four-year college or university in the State of Maryland. There is no restriction on the area of study – applicants may pursue any academic major of interest.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be of Hispanic heritage
  • Applicant must be a Maryland resident
  • Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate proof of acceptance for the Fall of 2021 to an academic program.

 

Maryland Hispanic Scholar ($1000)
Graduate Scholarships
Due Date: July 31, 2021

This scholarship was established by the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for a student pursuing advanced graduate studies at an accredited university in Maryland. The award is intended for studies in a Masters or Doctoral program of any kind that has an impact on economic development and commerce in Maryland.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be of Hispanic heritage
  • Applicant must be a Maryland resident
  • Must be accepted to an accredited university or graduate program in the state of Maryland, and show proof of acceptance for the Fall of 2021
  • Successful applicants must demonstrate both academic achievement and impact on the community; and be able to explain the relevance of their area of study to economic development in Maryland

 

Maryland Hispanic Hands-On Expert ($1000)
Trade-Vocational Scholarship
Due Date: July 31, 2021

The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce offers a scholarship for trade programs in Maryland. This scholarship was established for high school seniors entering trade or vocational training at an institute or two-year community college program in Maryland. The award is intended for applicants seeking non-traditional professional programs such as automotive or culinary training.

  • Applicant must be of Hispanic heritage
  • Applicant must be a Maryland resident
  • Applicant must be accepted in a trade program in the State of Maryland at a technical institute or two-year accredited community college technical program
  • Applicant needs to show proof of acceptance to chosen trade program

 

Maryland Community Development ($1,000)
Academic Scholarship
Due Date: July 31, 2021

This scholarship is sponsored by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for $1000 and is for a student in Maryland in the community development field.The scholarship is all encompassing of students entering any areas of studies including infrastructural planning, architectural engineering, urban housing and planning, community revitalization & business economic development, public services, & housing development

  • Applicant must be of Hispanic heritage
  • Applicant must be a Maryland resident
  • Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate proof of acceptance for the Fall of 2021 to an academic program.

The Sylvia Castañeda Scholarship ($1,000)
Academic Scholarship
Due Date: July 31, 2021

This Scholarship was established by the Castañeda family in memory of Silvia Malen Castañeda, to honor her career as a teacher. eligible applicants must be students of Hispanic Heritage who will be pursuing an Education Degrees. The purpose for this scholarship is to promote careers in the education field.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must have a permanent residence in Maryland
  • Applicant must be a full-time bilingual student pursuing a teaching career
  • Applicants must be graduating seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA and demonstrate service to the community and to their school

Scholarship Application (2020-2021)

To complete your application, you must provide the requested information in the below form and submit it. Additionally, you must email the following supporting documentation to  scholarship@mdhcc.org

  • Two letters of recommendations. Limit each recommendation to one page.
  • Student Statement
  • Write an essay from one of the statements below. The length of your essay can be one of two pages
    • Describe your most meaningful achievements, and how they relate to your field of study and future goal.
    • How will your major contribute to your immediate or long-term career plans
    • How has your education contributed to who you are today?
    • Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.
    • How have you contributed to your community, and what impact did this have?

The information provided on this form will be used by the Scholarship Committee to select recipients. It is important that you give complete details concerning your college/career plans, and activities
