Daniel Trujillo Esmeral is an attorney in Offit Kurman’s labor and employment practice group. He focuses his practice on providing proactive and preventative counseling and defending businesses throughout the litigation process. The dual nature of Mr. Trujillo Esmeral’s practice allows him to partner with clients to come up with solutions to their legal issues, big and small, while they focus on growing their businesses.

Mr. Trujillo Esmeral’s years of experience representing employees gives him a unique advantage when providing employment counseling to businesses for compliance with state and federal employment laws, such as wage and hour and discrimination, and accommodation requests. Mr. Trujillo Esmeral’s understanding of the employee’s perspective allows him to anticipate potential legal pitfalls when preparing employment agreements, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, and third-party contracts. That experience also informs him as he conducts internal investigations for businesses regarding allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and when preparing and revising their employee handbooks and employment policies. Mr. Trujillo Esmeral’s work before state and federal tribunals and administrative boards, including litigation before state supreme courts and federal courts of appeal ensure that businesses are well represented in all aspects of the litigation process.

Mr. Trujillo Esmeral received his Juris Doctor from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. While an evening student, Mr. Trujillo Esmeral served in various leadership positions, including as managing editor of the George Mason University Civil Rights Law Journal, president of the Student Bar Association, and president and founder of the Latino/a Law Student Association. He also participated in trial advocacy competitions as a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. Mr. Trujillo Esmeral received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park. Throughout law school, he clerked full-time at a boutique labor and employment law firm and has worked in various legal roles in Washington, D.C. area law firms for the last decade.
